KOMPAS.com - BlackBerry kemungkinan akan menghentikan kegiatan bisnisnya di Korea Selatan mulai akhir Februari 2013 mendatang. Keputusan diambil setelah melihat buruknya tingkat penjualan perangkat BlackBerry di Korea Selatan.

Salah satu imbasnya, apabila BlackBerry benar-benar memutuskan untuk hengkang dari Korea Selatan, ponsel BlackBerry 10 tidak akan dijual di negeri K-Pop tersebut.

Kabar ini diungkapkan oleh media asal Korea Selatan, Yonhap, berdasarkan informasi dari sumber industri telepon seluler (ponsel) Korea.

BlackBerry memang kalah bersaing di pasaran ponsel Korea. Warga Korea Selatan lebih gemar menggunakan ponsel merek asli asal Korea, seperti Samsung dan LG, ditambah produk iPhone buatan Apple.

Selain itu, di Korea sendiri, hanya ada satu operator, SK Telecom, yang memasarkan produk BlackBerry. Hal tersebut seperti ingin menunjukkan rendahnya minat konsumen terhadap perangkat BlackBerry. 

BlackBerry sudah mengeluarkan tanggapannya melalui situs teknologi The Next Web. Dalam pernyataannya ini, BlackBerry sedikit menyanggah kabar tersebut.

"BlackBerry menikmati hubungannya dengan partner, SK Telecom, dan kami akan terus mendukung penjualan BlackBerry yang dilakukan partner tersebut di Korea. Kami akan terus menyediakan layanan dan kegiatan after-sales untuk pengguna BlackBerry di korea, baik itu untuk konsumen biasa dan pengguna bisnis," jelas pihak BlackBerry.

BlackBerry dikabarkan masih melakukan diskusi dengan SK Telecom terkait kehadiran BB Z10 di Korea, tetapi hingga saat ini keduanya masih belum menemukan kata sepakat.

Sebelumnya, BlackBerry sudah menyatakan tidak akan menjual Z10 di salah satu negara raksasa elektronik lainnya, Jepang. Keputusan tersebut diambil mengingat kecilnya pangsa pasar BlackBerry di Jepang, yaitu hanya 0,4 persen.

KOMPAS.com - BlackBerry 10 adalah harapan terakhir pembuatnya untuk melakukan comeback ke industri mobile yang kini didominiasi Apple dan Android.

Meski menjanjikan, tetap ada keraguan mengenai apakah andalan BlackBerry ini akan bisa menarik hati para konsumen.

Sempat ada pembicaraan soal menjual BlackBerry, atau melisensikan sistem operasi perangkat tersebut ke pihak-pihak yang tertarik. Satu hal yang pasti, perusahaan itu memilih bertahan dengan platform buatan sendiri.

Akan tetapi, pemerhati teknologi  yang juga merupakan pendiri Apple, Steve Wozniak berpendapat bahwa lambat laun BlackBerry akan terpaksa mengadopsi salah satu platform yang lebih populer agar bisa bertahan, yaitu Android.

Pria yang akrab dipanggil Woz ini melontarkan pendapat tersebut dalam wawancara yang dikutip oleh Bloomberg.

Wozniak mengatakan, BlackBerry pada akhirnya harus mengandalkan reputasi baiknya sebagai "produsen hardware". Dia menambahkan, brand BlackBerry seharusnya sudah bisa memberikan cukup diferensiasi untuk produk-produk bikinan perusahaan itu.

Woz juga menyinggung Apple dan mengatakan bahwa perusahaan yang didirikannya bersama dengan Steve Jobs tahun 1976 itu mulai tak mampu menelurkan inovasi untuk bersaing dengan kompetitor.

Tanpa fitur yang bisa mengalahkan perangkat saingan, menurut Wozniak, Apple akan terpaksa mengandalkan daya tariknya sebagai produk premium. "Dalam iklan yang menampilkan PC dan Mac, komputer Mac selalu digambarkan sebagai barang yang keren. Tapi kesan 'keren' itu sudah mulai menghilang."

SAMSUNG Electronics has defended its working practices after a lawsuit was filed in France against the South Korean giant over conditions at its supplier plants in China. 

Based on a September report by the US-based monitor China Labor Watch, a trio of French rights and consumer protection groups accused Samsung of deceiving consumers by violating its own vows on ethical working conditions and using child labour.

In a statement on Wednesday, Samsung said it maintained a "zero tolerance" policy on child labour and had audited all its supplier sites in China following the China Labor Watch report.

"We are implementing new hiring policies to strengthen identity verification measures, despite no instance of child labour being identified in the audits," the statement said.

It was not clear whether the French courts would agree to hear the groups' complaint or what consequences the suit could have on Samsung's operations in France.

The China Labor Watch report said employees at Samsung supplier plants in China worked up to five times the legal overtime limit and were denied basic labour rights.

At the time, the South Korean company rejected charges of "inhumane" working conditions as "totally unfair" but acknowledged their audits had uncovered some "inadequate practices" including excessive overtime.

"Hari ini acara peluncuran BBM money. Nanti kalau ada informasi BlackBerry 10 kami kabari lagi," tegasnya kepada wartawan.
Ia hanya menekankan bahwa BB 10 merupakan suatu produk yang paling evolusioner. "Saya gak mau kasih bocoran, karena nanti basi. Ekspektasi kami, BB akan tetap nomor satu," tuturnya.
Tak mengungkap sedikit bocoran kapan dirilisnya BB 10, Eka hanya menjelaskan fitur-fitur aplikasi 'BBM Money'. "Kini, kami buat aplikasi untuk dukung jualan online," ujarnya.
Dengan 'BBM Money', akan menawarkan kemudahan dan suatu inovasi baru kepada konsumen. "Sehingga bukan untuk chating doang. Nanti ada tahap berikutnya, bisa utk pembayaran listrik, bayar air, dan lain-lain," imbuhnya.
Seperti diketahui, BlackBerry 10 telah rilis di Inggris dengan dua model, yakni Q10 dan Z10. Salah satu model tersebut memiliki desain sekilas persis iPhone (Z10), sementara Q10 tampil serupa dengan desain Qwerty BlackBerry yang telah ada.
Rumor mengungkap, sekira Maret atau April BB 10 akan diumumkan di Indonesia. Beberapa provider telekomunikasi juga siap menyambut kehadiran gadget populer tersebut di Tanah Air.
